# Self-hosted services

> Deploy services that aren't available as managed Upsun Cloud services using composable images or public Docker images.


Some third-party services aren't available as managed Upsun Cloud services. You can self-host them by deploying them as applications in your project.

## Composable image services

Deploy and configure a service from scratch using the [Composable image](https://developer.upsun.com/docs/configure-apps/app-reference/composable-image.md). Use this approach when you need full control over the runtime environment.

## Docker image services

Run a service directly from a public Docker image. Use this approach when the service already ships a production-ready image.
